Munk Pack: Our Story
You may have seen a Protein Cookie or Oatmeal Fruit Squeeze in your favorite grocery store aisle with our name on it. You could have seen us in an online advertisement or heard about us from a friend. Regardless, your first reaction was probably, “What is Munk Pack?!” So, we thought we’d share a bit of our story with you to become better acquainted.
Who We Are
We are the brain child of Michelle and Toby. From their professional lives to their hiking adventures, they were always looking for healthy, portable foods that were minimally processed, with real, wholesome ingredients. Since they struggled to find what they were looking for already available on the market, they decided to make their own. They got started in the kitchen, funneling homemade oatmeal and fruit smoothies into bottles, and then into convenient, BPA-free pouches at a commercial kitchen. They started selling their Oatmeal Fruit Squeezes at local farmers markets and have since scaled up to their favorite grocery stores throughout the country. Seeing the popularity of the Oatmeal Fruit Squeezes, they decided to branch out to a new and exciting category. Embracing the same commitment to creating only high-quality, great-tasting products, they launched our delicious, power-packed Protein Cookie in 2017.
The Mighty Chipmunk
Our brand centers on the tiny but mighty chipmunk! Chipmunks are curious creatures that love a good adventure, always exploring everything on their path. They are highly selective eaters, with a diet of fruits, nuts, seeds, and grains. Like the chipmunk, we gather only high-quality, real ingredients from nature for balanced nutrition on the go.
Unlike simple carbohydrates that get digested quickly and cause your blood sugar to spike, oatmeal is a complex carb that is digested slowly. As a result, the sugar is absorbed into your bloodstream at a much slower rate, so instead of feeling a quick boost of energy, oatmeal provides sustained energy that will keep you fueled for a longer period of time.
Peanut butter is a natural source of protein and is a good source of healthy fats, so it’s no coincidence that it’s the base for our Protein Cookie. To add to the perks of this tasty treat, it’s also an excellent source of potassium and provides you with heart-healthy vitamins like folate, vitamin E, magnesium and resveratrol.
Our Protein Cookie is packed with plant-based protein…18 grams of it to be exact! Our blend of brown rice protein and pea protein is a complete source of protein that provides you with all 9 essential amino acids. Milk proteins, like whey, are not easily digested by everyone. Eating plant-based proteins is an easy way to get the nutrition you need in a sustainable, compassionate manner.
These tiny seeds may not look like much, but don’t let their size fool you. They are good sources of fiber and one of the best plant-based sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Studies show that omega-3s may reduce inflammation, the risk of heart disease, cancer and arthritis, and they also have a positive effect on your memory.
Even though quinoa (pronounced “keen-wah”) cooks and tastes like a grain, it’s safe for those who are allergic or sensitive to gluten. We love it because it’s plant-based and is considered a complete protein, which means it contains all nine of the essential amino acids your body needs.
Just a 1 ounce serving of chia seeds (approx. 2 tablespoons) will provide you with 4 grams of protein, 11 grams of fiber, plus a variety of vitamins and minerals like vitamin B, D and E, calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. Iron helps transport oxygen throughout your bloodstream, so when you don’t have enough of it you may feel like you need a nap because your body is working harder to get the oxygen it needs.
Our products are always non-GMO verified, gluten-free, vegan and contain no: soy, dairy, eggs, sugar alcohols, trans fat, cholesterol, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, or artificial preservatives.
Well, that’s our story and we’re sticking to it! If you’re looking for delicious, better-for-you snacks, try one of our Oatmeal Fruit Squeezes or Protein Cookies!
